
Iowa On Deck For Indiana Softball

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Softball (7-9, 7-9 Big Ten) heads back out on the road this weekend for four games against the Iowa Hawkeyes. (10-6, 10-6 Big Ten) in Iowa City.
First Pitch
The series will kick off on Friday, Apr. 2 at 4 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 3 beginning at 2 p.m. The Hoosiers and Hawkeyes will square off in the series finale on Sunday, Apr. 4 at 3 p.m.
The first three games will broadcast live on Big Ten Network Plus with the final game airing live on the Big Ten Network. Connor Hines will also be providing a radio broadcast on IUHoosiers.com.
Checking Out The Competition
Iowa: The Hawkeyes enter the series with a 10-6 record on the season. Renee Gillispie is in her second season at the helm of Iowa that is currently hitting .229 a squad. Nia Carter leads the team at the plate with a .329 batting average, nine runs on 22 hits, and seven RBI. Loecker has a team-leading 12 RBI. In the circle, Lehman has a 1.22 ERA with 13 runs on 28 hits. Doocy has pitched an ERA of 1.56 and has let up 13 runs on 35 hits. She has a team-high 49 strikeouts so far this season.
Last Time Out
The Hoosiers opened up the 2021 home slate by hosting No. 25 Michigan. Despite seeing some hitting, the Wolverines hot pitching became too much for the Hoosiers as they went 0-4 on the weekend.
In game one, Gabbi Jenkins and Hannah Davis saw multi-hits games with two each. Grayson Radcliffe batted in the lone RBI as the Hoosiers dropped the contest, 7-1, to Michigan. As a team the Hoosiers recorded seven hits.
To open the doubleheader, Jenkins continued her multi-hit streak and Radcliffe also saw two hits. Jenkins also had a stolen base in six consecutive games. The Wolverines were too much for Indiana as they fell 3-1 in nine innings. In game two, Jenkins had a stolen base which brought her streak to six consecutive games.
Norton and Lacefiled recorded hits and Norton also tallied an RBI. Michigan picked up the 8-1 victory.
In the final game of the weekend, Macy Montgomery got her first career hit with a single. Aaliyah Andrews reached base on her both at bats by drawing a walk and hitting a single. Despite getting the base production, the Hoosiers couldn't pick up the win to end the weekend.

• Gabbi Jenkins leads the Big Ten and NCAA in stolen bases in a single game with six. Jenkins has a Big Ten leading 12 stolen bags this season.
• Jenkins has 87 career stolen bases and is three away from breaking the 90 career stolen base record set by Aimee Lonigro in 1997. She broke the program single game stolen base record already this year with six against Rutgers on Mar. 13.
• As a team, the Hoosiers lead the country in stolen bases, averaging 3.25 per game.
• Bella Norton and Grayson Radcliffe lead the Hoosiers in RBI with seven each.
• Brittany Ford hit her first career grand slam in game one against Rutgers on Mar. 13.
