
Hoosiers Tied for Second After Day One of Robert Kepler Intercollegiate

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Indiana men's golf opened play at the Robert Kepler Collegiate on Saturday as the Hoosiers are tied for second place after two rounds. The entire field was not able to finish the second round due to darkness, but all five Hoosiers completed their 36 holes, led by senior Ethan Shepherd, who is in second after ending the day at 3-under.

• When play was called due to darkness, there were two groups remaining. They will finish their second rounds in the morning before a re-pair for the final round of the event.
• Indiana started on the No. 10 tee.
• In the opening round, Shepherd fired a 2-under 69 with four birdies. He carded a 1-under 70 in the second round to end the day in second place. He is one stroke back of the leader, Kent State's Cade Breitenstine. The 69 matched Shepherd's best round of the year as he also carded a 69 in the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate in February.
• Freshman Clay Merchent is tied for 15th place and ended his day a 2-over. He shot an even-71 in the first round with three birdies and was 2-over in the second. In that second round, he parred every hole except for No. 3 and 15.
• Junior Mitch Davis' highlight came in the second round as he eagled the 618-yard No. 6. For the day, he is tied for 20th place at 3-over. Overall, he was strongest in the first round as he was 1-under and didn't record a single bogey.
• Junior Harry Reynolds is currently tied for 47th place at 7-over. After carding a 77 in the opening round, he improved by five strokes in the second.
• Freshman Drew Salyers rounds out the Hoosier lineup in a tie for 76th place. He shot a 77 and 79, respectively.
