COLUMBUS, Ohio – Indiana men's golf travels to Ohio this weekend as the Hoosiers close out the regular season at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate. The teams will play two rounds on Saturday with the final round coming Sunday morning.

Tournament Notes
• The event will tee off Saturday at 7:30 a.m. on split tees with continuous play into the second round. The final round will begin Sunday at 7:30 a.m., again on split tees.
• Indiana has won the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate four times in its 47-year history – 1970, 1971, 1973 and 1980.
• This marks the first time Indiana has competed in the event since 2017. The Hoosiers were due to compete last season before the cancelation of the remainder of the year.
Freshmen Pacing the Hoosiers
Freshmen Clay Merchent (71.80) and Drew Salyers (72.53) currently have the best two averages in the team lineup. In addition, through 15 rounds, those numbers rank as the best freshmen season averages in IU program history. Jorge Campillo registered a 72.67 in his freshman campaign, which has been the best for a freshman since 2006. Merchent has earned a top-10 finish in four of five stroke play events this season, including two in the top-5. Salyers has finished in the top-20 in four events with two top-10 finishes.
Averages Improved Amongst Upperclassmen
In addition to the play of the freshmen, the three upperclassmen in this week's lineup have impressed this year as well. Both Reynolds (73.47) and Davis (72.80) are averaging the best scores of their careers. In addition, Shepherd's 73.13 is his best average since a 73.06 in his sophomore season.
Tournament No. 1 Recap – Big Ten Match Play Championship
The Hoosiers rallied to defeat Iowa, 3-2, in the Big Ten Match Play finals to earn their first title in the event since 2009. IU defeated Wisconsin in the semifinals, 3.5-1.5, and earned 4.5-0.5 victories against both Ohio State and Minnesota on the way to the championship. The event saw the Indiana debuts of freshmen Drew Salyers and Clay Merchent. Junior Harry Reynolds earned Big Ten Men's Golfer of the Week for his 4-0 performance while the team was named Golfweek's Men's Team of the Week.
Tournament No. 2 Recap – Mobile Bay Intercollegiate
In the first stroke play event of the season, Indiana came in second at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate. It marked the best team finish for Indiana in a stroke play event since the Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational in Sept. 2018. The Hoosiers were led by Merchent, who finished tied for third. All six Hoosiers competing, including Brock Ochsenreiter who played as an individual, finished in the top 31.
Tournament No. 3 Recap – Spartan Collegiate at Sea Island
Merchent led the way as he picked up his first career eagle on his way to a tie for ninth place. Junior Harry Reynolds (T23) and senior Ethan Shepherd (T30) also picked up top-30 finishes for the Hoosiers, who turned in their best round on the final day (285) and finished in ninth place.
Tournament No. 4 Recap – General Hackler Championship
Indiana made a final day push to move up three spots and finish in seventh place at the General Hackler Championship. Merchent carded a 2-under 70 to move up 16 spots and finish tied for eighth. Fellow freshman Drew Salyers also landed in the top-20 as he tied for 29th.
Tournament No. 5 Recap – Hoosier Collegiate Invitational
The Hoosiers made their competitive debut at The Pfau Course last weekend as they played host to The Pfau Course. Indiana came in second place with everyone in the team lineup finishing tied for 21st place or better, including Salyers and Reynolds finishing tied for seventh. Shepherd competed as an individual and finished tied for fourth place.
Tournament No. 6 Recap – Boilermaker Invitational/Boilermaker Individual
IU traveled to West Lafayette April 10-11 as the team lineup participated in the Boilermaker Invitational and a group of individuals competed in the Boilermaker Individual. In the team event, Merchent led the way as he finished tied for fourth with a 3-under-par 213. Davis also finished in the top-10 as he tied for ninth at 2-under 214. Ochsenreiter took home the title in the individual event with a 7-under 209, earning his first career win. For his efforts, he was named Co-Big Ten Golfer of the Week.
