No. 13 Indiana Drops Weekend Finale to No. 4 California

BERKELEY, Calif. – The No. 13-ranked Indiana University water polo team fell 13-3 to the No. 4 California Golden Bears on Sunday afternoon at the Spieker Aquatics Complex.
With the setback, the Hoosiers fall to 9-15 and to 1-11 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) play. The Golden Bears move to 11-6 on the year and 5-6 in MPSF action.
KEY MOMENTS
• Junior Izzy Mandema scored the opening two goals for IU to take an early 2-1 lead.
• IU put an array of chances on net early in the second period but couldn't find the back of the cage.
• Sophomore Lanna Debow put an effort on goal, but it was saved away by the California goalkeeper in the fourth period.
• Sophomore Katherine Hawkins got the Hoosiers back on the board in the fourth period with a powerplay goal.
NOTABLES
• Mandema and Hawkins were the goal scorers for the Hoosiers on Sunday afternoon.
• Junior Mary Askew recorded 11 saves in net, her fourth double-digit save tally of the season.
• Mandema (59) is five goals shy of tying Candyce Schroeder in 10th place on the single-season goals list.
• Crouch (42) is three assists shy of tying Deb Simone and Lauren Wyckoff in 10th place on the single-season assists list.

• Indiana earned the No. 6 seed in the MPSF Tournament and will face No. 3-seeded Stanford on Friday, April 30 at 2:30 p.m. ET in Tempe, Ariz. The tournament will be double-elimination.
