No. 15 Indiana Defeated by No. 1 USC

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 15-ranked Indiana University water polo team dropped an offensive battle, 19-10, to No. 1 Southern California on Saturday afternoon at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington, Ind.
Following the close loss, the Hoosiers fall to 8-10 on the season overall and to 0-6 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) play. USC improves to 12-0 on the year and to 6-0 in league action.
KEY MOMENTS
• Sophomore Zoe Crouch and classmate Lanna Debow opened the scoring for IU, helping it jump out to a 2-2 lead in the first period.
• Right before the end of the first period, Debow scored again to level the game at 3-3 after one.
• Junior Izzy Mandema scored two goals in three minutes to open the second period to help the Hoosiers come level once again.
• Junior Tina Doherty added a goal with 3:21 left in the first half to keep IU on even grounds.
• Junior goalkeeper Mary Askew tallied her third goal of the weekend and lone goal of the afternoon at the horn to end the first half and leave IU down just 9-8.
• Crouch and Doherty added another goal each in the second half but it wasn't enough to halt the offensive attack from the Trojans.

• Debow recorded a hat-trick to anchor the IU offensive attack.
• Askew added another nine saves in net and a steal.
• Doherty bagged two goals and an assist for the Hoosiers.
• Freshman Lexi Marissink had a career-best two assists and matched her PR with one steal.
