
Davis Leads the Way on a Windy Day One of the Big Ten Championship

CARMEL, Ind. – Indiana men's golf opened up play in the 2021 Big Ten Championship on Friday at Crooked Stick Golf Club. Junior Mitch Davis paced the opening day for the Hoosiers, as he is tied for 10th place after the first round.

• Junior Mitch Davis leads the Hoosiers as he shot a 3-over-par 75 to end the day tied for 10th place. He was even through the front nine. He carded a birdie on No. 15 before running into trouble on the final hole.
• Freshman Drew Salyers shot a 6-over 78 and is tied for 29th place. He parred his first five holes and birdied No. 8.
• Senior Ethan Shepherd and freshman Clay Merchent are both tied for 36th place after carding a 79. Merchent was one stroke better on the front nine while Shepherd was one stroke stronger on the back nine, carding a pair of birdies.
• Junior Harry Reynolds is tied for 60th place and shot an 83. He was three strokes better on the front nine, making the turn at 4-over.
