Indiana to Face St. Francis Brooklyn in Second Round
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 2-ranked Indiana Hoosiers (9-1-1) will open NCAA action against the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers (6-1-2) in the 2020-21 NCAA Tournament Second Round on May 2 at UNCW Soccer Stadium in Wilmington, N.C.
First kick is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET on Stretch. Jim Whitmeyer (PxP) will be on the call. Live stats will be available at IUHoosiers.com.
NCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY
• Indiana has won the NCAA championship eight times in the program's storied history and have made an NCAA record 20 College Cup appearances.
• No program has more NCAA Tournament victories (92) than the Hoosiers. UCLA is second with 70.
• The Hoosiers hold a record of 92-34-5 in the NCAA Tournament. The .721 winning percentage is the highest total of any program that has won more than 10 matches.
• IU last hosted the NCAA Championship trophy after defeating Georgetown by a score of 1-0 in 2012.
BIG TEN TRIPLE DOUBLE
• For the third-straight season, Indiana claimed both the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles, the longest streak in the conference since IU captured four-straight league doubles from 1996-99. No other program has achieved the feat in consecutive seasons.
• This marked IU's 11th regular season, tournament double in program history. The rest of the conference has seven combined doubles.
• The Hoosiers have won a conference-leading 17 regular season Big Ten regular season championships and 15 Big Ten Tournament crowns.
• Indiana has won the last six trophies handed out by the Big Ten (3 regular season, 3 tournament), meaning 25-of-30 (83.3%) of the current roster has never lost a B1G trophy during their collegiate career.
• Bezerra was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Tournament after scoring all five Hoosier goals in the tourney. Celentano claimed Big Ten Defensive Player of the Tournament after recording two cleansheets (one solo) and making two big saves in the PK shootout. Both, along with Munie, were named to the All-Tournament Team.
#IUMS B1G POSTSEASON AWARDS
• The Indiana men's soccer team cleaned up the 2020-21 Big Ten Conference postseason awards.
• Sophomore forward Victor Bezerra, sophomore goalie Roman Celentano, and redshirt senior defender Spencer Glass earned All-Big Ten First Team plaudits, while sophomore midfielder Herbert Endeley and redshirt sophomore defender Daniel Munie were named to the 2020-21 All-Big Ten Second Team. Freshman defender Joey Maher was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team.
• Bezerra also earned Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year honors. He is the third Hoosier to garner the award as he joins Will Bruin (2010) and Eriq Zavaleta (2012). Celentano became the second IU keeper to be named Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year (Trey Muse, 2018).
• Todd Yeagley was named Big Ten Conference Coach of the Year for the fourth time (2010, '18, '19). Yeagley joins his father, Jerry Yeagley, as the only coaches in Big Ten program history to earn the accolade in three-consecutive seasons. Jerry achieved the feat from 2001-03.
OTHER NOTES
• The Hoosiers have not suffered a loss in eight-straight matches, the longest active streak in the Big Ten and the program's longest streak without a loss since the 2019 (Oct. 22-Nov. 24) campaign.
• Head coach Todd Yeagley earned his 150th-career win on March 23.
• Under the direction of Yeagley, the Hoosiers have compiled an NCAA Tournament record of 16-9-1. IU captured the program's eighth star in 2012 with a 1-0 triumph over Georgetown in Hoover, Ala.
• In the last 44 Big Ten regular season matches Indiana holds a record of 33-2-9. IU is 10-0-6 in the Big Ten Tournament since 2015.
• Redshirt senior defender Spencer Glass suffered a season-ending injury (tibia) against No. 11 Michigan.
LAST TIME OUT
• The top-seeded Indiana Hoosiers won the 2020-21 Big Ten Championship against No. 14 Penn State by way of a 3-2 advantage in penalty kicks.
• Bezerra continued his masterful scoring streak with his fifth goal of the B1G Tournament in the 40th minute. He tallied all five of Indiana's goals in the tournament.
• Penn State leveled the score at 1-1 in the 82nd minute with a goal. The Hoosiers were playing down a man at the time after freshman defender Joey Maher was sent off due to a red card.
• After neither team could break through in the two overtime sessions, the match went to penalty kicks. Celentano denied two PKs and saw another sail high of frame to help guide IU to its second-straight Big Ten Tournament title via penalty kick shootout and third-straight overall.

• The St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers, under the direction of head coach Tom Giovatto, enter the NCAA Tournament Second Round match with a record of 6-1-2. St. Francis Brooklyn advanced out of the first round by way of a 2-1 (2OT) result against Milwaukee.
• Senior forward Nicolas Molina, the Northeast Conference Player of the Year, leads the Terriers in goals (3), total points (23), shots (25), and shots on goal (9) this season. He is second in assists (3). Freshman midfielder Ramchwy Saint Vil, and NEC All-Rookie selection, secured six points (2 goals, 2 assists) and led St. Francis with two game-winning goals.
• Sophomore keeper Callum James, the NEC Goalkeeper of the Year, surrendered just six goals in eight starts (6-1-1) this season. He collected 25 saves (0.806 save percentage), secured three shutouts and did not concede more than one goal in each of the final seven matches of the season.
