Indiana Softball Walks Off Pair of Games Against Penn State

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana softball (21-17) started off senior weekend with a 2-0 series lead against Penn State on Friday at Andy Mohr Field. A walk-off home run from senior Gabbi Jenkins gave the Hoosiers a 2-1 victory over the Nittany Lions. In the second game, a sac fly from senior Annika Baez sealed the wins sending Bella Norton home for the 8-7 win.

Game One: Indiana 2, Penn State 1
GAME 1 KEY MOMENTS
• In the bottom of the first, Bella Norton doubled on the fly to. Right field sending Grayson Radcliffe Home to give the Hoosiers an early lead.
• A triple from Penn State's Melody Coombs in the bottom of the third sent Rivard home to tie the ball game.
• In the bottom of the eighth inning, Gabbi Jenkins closed the game with a walk off home run to right field to take the first game, 2-1.

GAME 1 NOTABLES
• The Hoosiers improved to 20-17 this season while the Nittany Lions fell to 5-27.
• Emily Goodin pitched 8 innings, recorded seven strikeouts and gave up four hits. Goodin now has 147 strikeouts on the season.
• Gabbi Jenkins hit her first career home run.
• Norton earned her 18^th career RBI.

Game Two: Indiana 8, Penn State 7
GAME 2 KEY MOMENTS
• The Hoosiers earned two hits in the bottom of the fourth. Gabbi Jenkins singled down the right field line while Grayson Radcliffe singled down the left side. With two runners in scoring position, a sac fly to centerfield from Grace Lorsung sends Jenkins home to tie the game 1-1.
• Penn State took a 3-1 lead at the top of the fifth. Indiana couldn't get a hit going in the bottom.
• In the sixth, a couple of singles from the Nittany sent three runners home to extend the lead, 5-1.
• The Hoosiers heated up in the bottom of the sixth as Taylor Lambert sent one flying over the fence on the right side to cut the Penn State deficit. Indiana continued to fight back as Micah Schroder doubled right of center field to send Radcliffe and Julia Davis across home plate, 6-4.
• Lambert was hit by the pitch. Jenkins doubled to put Lambert in scoring positions. Radcliffe earned another hit as she doubled and sent Lambert home.
• Lorsung singled in the bottom of the seventh to load the bases. Senior Annika Baez sent a sac fly out to centerfield sending Norton home for the win.

GAME 2 NOTABLES
• Indiana is now 21-17 on the season. Penn State fell to 5-28.
• Pitcher Natalie Foor struck out four batters and gave up three hits in three innings.
• Pitcher Macy Montgomery earns a new career high of five strikeouts through two innings pitched.
• Pitcher Amber Linton made an appearance in one inning and struck out one batter and gave up three hits.

Indiana will end the series with a double-header at Andy Mohr field tomorrow, Saturday May 8, with the first pitch set to take place at 1 p.m. ET.
