Summer Football Press Conference – Camron Buckley, Weston Kramer, & Deland McCullough II
6/10/2021 2:58:00 PM | Football
Below are partial transcriptions of Zoom press conferences with Indiana wide receiver Camron Buckley, defensive lineman Weston Kramer, and defensive back Deland McCullough II on Thursday, June 10.
WR Camron Buckley
Q. On the decision to transfer …
BUCKLEY: Leaving Texas A&M was a business decision. I still love College Station, I love A&M, I love the coaching staff over there, but leaving was a business decision for me personally. IU was the best place, the best fit, for me.
Q. On his familiarity with Indiana …
BUCKLEY: I watched a couple of games last season. The offense is different. They throw the ball more, it is a more pass-heavy offense. It was a pro-style offense at A&M.
Q. On what made Indiana a good decision …
BUCKLEY: I just looked at the offense. I love what this team is doing. I love what Coach Tom Allen and Grant Heard are doing with the wide receivers. We have a great quarterback coming back. To come in and be part of this offense means a lot. I will make the best of it.
DL Weston Kramer
Q. On what made Indiana a good fit…
KRAMER: I thought the coaching staff knew what they were talking about pretty well and they seemed like good coaches. I liked how the defense was ran and how they used defensive tackles and moved around a decent amount. I thought that was going to be good for me because I do well in stuff like that.
Q. On how much he watched Indiana during the season…
KRAMER: I've been hearing about the defense, and I saw how they played last year. Being part of the defense here is going to be pretty exciting.
Q. On his improvement over the last four years…
KRAMER: When I was at Northern Illinois, I trained very hard every day. I tried to make myself better in everything that I did. I think it led to me playing well at NIU and the opportunity to come out here.
DB Deland McCullough II
Q. On what his first days on campus have been like…
MCCULLOUGH: Man, it is different. It is exciting. It's exciting to be back. I'm just back home. I'm happy to be here and it's been a great experience so far.
Q. On what he's been told about his role on the team…
MCCULLOUGH: Mostly, I will be a safety. That is what they have planned for me and I have no problem with that. I'm happy.
Q. On the process of his transfer after his father got hired at Indiana…
MCCULLOUGH: When my dad got the job here at Indiana, it did not even cross my mind. It was something that just kind of happened. Due to other circumstances, I decided it was something I wanted to do. With further conversations with my dad and the coaches here after I entered the portal, they made it happen.
