
IUFH Begins Season With Two Matches in Michigan

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana Field Hockey team (0-0, 0-0 Big Ten) opens the regular season this weekend with a pair of matchups in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. IU will play the host Central Michigan on Friday, Aug. 27 at 1:00 p.m. EST before the closing the weekend at the same venue against Davidson on Saturday, Aug. 28 at 1:00 p.m. EST.

LAST TIME: 2020-2021 SEASON
IU spent the entire 2020-2021 spring season on the road in Head Coach Kayla Bashore's second year in charge. The Hoosiers finished the campaign 1-14 overall and in conference play. Then-junior Peyton Becker scored an overtime winner on April 15th at Michigan State to give IU its first victory of the season.
WATCH LIST
The Big Ten Conference named its Preseason Honorees on Wednesday, August 25th. Senior forward Hailey Couch, Senior midfielder Mary Kate Kesler and Freshman midfielder Kira Curland were named to the list for Indiana.
FRESH FACES
Indiana welcomed seven newcomers to the roster for the 2021 season. Kayla Kiwak, Arabella Loveridge, Yip van Wonderen, Meredith Lee, Kira Curland, Maggie Carter and Sofia Arrebola Garcia all come to Bloomington to join the program.
RETURNING TALENT
Mary Kate Kesler returns as last year's leading point scorer. The Louisville native scored seven points in a condensed spring season.
After opting out for health and safety concerns, Hailey Couch returns to action as the team's active goal scorer. In her sophomore season, Couch bagged 10 goals enroute to Second Team All-Big Ten honors.
Senior Jes McGivern (43) and Junior Kennedy Reardon (32) have each also played over 30 games in an IU uniform.

The Hoosiers return to playing a full 19-game schedule after being limited to conference-only matchups in the spring.
