EVANSTON, Ill. – The Indiana Hoosiers (4-2-1) scored two goals in the second half to defeat the Northwestern Wildcats (2-4-2) by a final tally of 2-1 at Martin Stadium on Tuesday night.
KEY MOMENTS
• Northwestern found the back of the net in the opening 10 minutes when a long, dribbling pass from sophomore forward Justin Weiss was able to leak through the defense to a streaking Vicente Castro. The junior midfielder was able to beat IU junior keeper Roman Celentano in a one-on-one situation to score in the seventh minute.
• Indiana found the equalizer early in the second half off a goal kick. Celentano took a short free kick to redshirt junior defender Daniel Munie, who played a long through ball to freshman forward Samuel Sarver. The Chesterland, Ohio, native collected the pass and chipped the ball past the Northwestern keeper in the 47th minute.
• Just five minutes later, the Hoosiers struck again. A beautiful display of ball movement saw the ball ping from junior forward Victor Bezerra to redshirt junior winger Ryan Wittenbrink. He spun a crosser into the six-yard box for the easy tap-in goal for junior forward Herbert Endeley.
