Indiana Cross Country Opens Lid On 2021 Season

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Cross Country will host its first home meet since 2017 on Saturday, September 4 when they the Indiana Open. The meet against Miami (OH) will begin the women's 6k at 9:20 a.m. followed by the men's 8k race at 10:10 a.m.
This past week both men's and women's teams were ranked in the preseason USTFCCCA National Coaches poll. The women checked in at No.16 while the men are ranked No. 22.
The Hoosiers are led by the returners Ben Veatch and Bailey Hertenstein. Veatch helped pace the men to second at Big Ten Championships in the spring with his eighth-place finish. The men went on to finish in 26th at NCAA Championships.
On the women's side, Hertenstein was runner-up at the conference meet and place 28th at NCAA Championships. Her finish allowed her to earn her second All-America honor of her career.
Indiana is welcoming eight newcomers to their roster including transfers, Trystan Forsythe (Georgetown) and Carlos Vilches-Ortiz (Universidad Ana G Mendez). The Hoosiers also added six freshmen to the squad.
