BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Track & Field continues its home stand with the highly competitive IU Relays this weekend. The meet is schedule for Friday, Jan. 28 and Saturday, Jan. 29.

Participating Teams
Indiana welcomes 14 teams to Bloomington this weekend for IU Relays including No. 14 and No. 16 ranked Tennessee. The Hoosiers will face two instate foes, Purdue, and Butler. Michigan State and Michigan round out their Great Lakes Regional competitor s while Saint Louis returns for their third meet this season. The rest of the field is comprised of Eastern Kentucky, Miami (OH), North Carolina, Ohio, Ole Miss, Southeast Missouri, UC Riverside and Wisconsin.

Last Time Out: Gladstein Invitational
Last weekend the Hoosiers hosted their second meet of the indoor season, the Gladstein Invitational. Indiana had a solid showing with 15 events wins. Of the victories, the Hoosiers were able to sweep the top three spots in the men's 60m, men's mile, and the fast sections of the women's 400m and 800m. Mid-season transfer Adam Strouf competed for the first time where he won the shot put and took fourth in the weight throw. Strouf saw a mark of 16.94m (55' 7") in the shot put and 17.35m (56' 11.25") in the weight throw. On the women's side of the shot put, Maddy Pollard saw her first victory of the season as she heaved a mark of 16.39m (53' 9.25"). Pole vaulter Taylor Jarosinki picked up her first career win after clearing a season best height of 3.70m (12' 1.5").
Stamping The Record Book
As the indoor season progresses, Hoosiers have made their mark on the record book in their respective events. At the Gladstein Invitational, Jayden Ulrich was the lone Hoosiers to stamp her name on the all-time list in the weight throw. The freshman threw a mark of 19.31m (63' 4.25') which No. 7 in school history. Earlier this season, she heaved an impressive mark of 16.68m (54' 8.75") in the shot put to slide into fifth in IU history.
Veatch Mode Activated
On day one of the Gladstein Invitational, Ben Veatch gave it all he got in search of his first career sub-4 mile. Coming down to the wire, Veatch turned on the jets to cross the finish line in a time of 3:59.73.
Atop the Great Lakes Region
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced their first regional rankings of the season on Tuesday morning. Indiana had both its men's and women's squad ranked No. 1 in the Great Lakes Region.
On the men's side, Notre Dame is No. 2 while Eastern Michigan is ranked third. Big Ten foes Purdue (4) and Wisconsin (5) round out the top 5.
In the Women's rankings, Big Ten opponents Michigan and Wisconsin are second and third, respectively, while Notre Dame sits in fourth. Ohio State completes the top-5 in the fifth.
