Hoosiers Drop Two Matches at Innisbrook Resort

PALM HARBOR, Fla. – The Indiana Hoosiers women's golf team lost a pair of tightly contested matches at the Big Ten Match Play Championships played at the Innisbrook Resorts Island Course on Monday.

Indiana dropped the first match of the day to the top-seeded Purdue Boilermakers by a score of 5-1. Senior Alexis Miestowski was the lone Hoosier to post a winning result in the matchup, defeating Sifat Sagoo 2&1.

The second match saw the Hoosiers fall to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights by a score of 4-2. The top two Hoosiers in the lineup each secured wins in their individual matchups. Valerie Clancy defeated Leigha Devine after carrying a three-hole lead through 15 holes. Freshman Áine Donegan also nabbed a three-hole advantage to hold off Rikke Nordvik through 15 holes.

Play was suspended during the second round of matches at 6 p.m. ET. All matches were stopped and will not be restarted in the morning.

UP NEXT
The Hoosiers will conclude the final round of the week against Iowa in the ninth-place match. IU will tee it off beginning at 8 a.m. ET. Indiana will then take the month of February off before heading to the Vystar Gators Invitational on March 5-6 at the Mark Bostic Golf Course in Gainesville.
