Hoosiers in Strong Position After Day One of Purdue Fall Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Indiana men's golf team stands at fifth place after day one of the Purdue Fall Invitational at the Kampen Course on Monday. The Hoosiers shot a 586 (296-290; +2) through the first 36 holes of play.
The top of the leaderboard has Tennessee in strong standing (563; -11) with LSU, Purdue and Arkansas Little Rock rounding out the rest of the top four. Little Rock, the current fourth place team is only six strokes ahead of Indiana.

Top Indiana Player: Mitch Davis –– 144 (71-73; +1)

• Fifth-year senior Mitch Davis leads the Hoosiers through day one 144 (71-73; +1) He had a total of five birdies for the day between both rounds.
• Senior Noah Gillard isn't too far behind Davis, only shooting one stroke more than Davis with a score of 145 (74-71; -1). Through his first 18 holes, he had five birdies.
• Junior Drew Salyers held steady with a card of 149 (74-75; +3). Salyers turned in a par on 21 holes.
• Senior Eric Berggren's day saw a score of 150 (77-73; +1). His second round saw him pick up four birdies, two of them coming each in the front and back-nine.
• Graduate transfer Thomas Hursey played to a 152 (79-73; +1). In both the first and second round Hursey had back-to-back birdies, including a birdie on Hole six and seven in the first round and a birdie on hole seven and eight in the second round.
• Freshman Cal Hoskins' showing leads Indiana in the individual contest, playing to a 140 (72-68, -4). The Warsaw, Ind. Native was on fire in round two, stroking five birdies in the front nine, including four in a row between holes four to seven.
• Junior Robbie Bender III wasn't far behind Hoskins with a score card of 142 (70-72; E). The junior eagled on hole 16 in round two, needing just three strokes on a par five.
• Fifth-year senior Harry Reynolds was even with Bender in strokes as he turned in a 142 (69-73; +1) on day one. On 32 of the 36 holes, Reynolds turned in a par or better.
