PISCATAWAY, N.J. – After four goals in the first 30 minutes of play, neither Indiana men's soccer (5-2-4, 1-1-3 B1G) nor Rutgers (5-2-5, 2-1-2 B1G) could find a winner as the Big Ten Conference contest ended in a 2-2 draw on Sunday (Oct. 9) at Yurcak Field.
KEY MOMENTS
• 3' – Indiana led after three minutes when a throw-in from the left side by senior defender Nyk Sessock was headed by sophomore forward Samuel Sarver into the path of sophomore forward Tommy Mihalic. Mihalic took first time and beat the keeper.
• 8' – Rutgers' high press resulted in a bad clearance by IU, and the Scarlet Knights took advantage via sophomore forward MD Myers for his league-leading 10th goal of the season.
• 15' – Redshirt senior defender Daniel Munie won the ball in the middle of the pitch, and it was off to the races. Munie passed forward to Sarver, who held up play while the former blazed past his mark. Sarver played the through ball to Munie into a one-on-one with the keeper. Composed, Munie sidestepped the oncoming keeper and passed into goal.
• 17' – Sessock nearly gave IU a two-goal cushion with a header from a cross at the back post, but a fabulous save by freshman goalkeeper Ciaran Dalton kept the attempt out of goal.
• 29' – Graduate midfielder Pablo Avila earned Rutgers another equalizer after junior midfielder Jason Bouregy found him in space.
• 51' – IU almost had another goal from a Sessock throw-in. It sailed into the head of Munie, who put it over the keeper but off the crossbar and over.
