Indiana Drops Contest to No. 10 Rutgers, 1-0

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Indiana women's soccer (2-5-6, 0-5-1) fell 1-0 against No. 10 Rutgers (12-1-1, 4-1-1) on Sunday afternoon at Yurcak Field. The Scarlet Knights capitalized on a penalty kick in the 61st minute.
KEY MOMENTS
• After a scoreless first half and pressure from the Indiana defense, both teams were eager to take the lead.
• Indiana saw their first real dangerous opportunity after junior forward Anna Bennett sent a cross to an open area in the box, but it was hovered on by the goalkeeper before Jen Blitchok could make the contact.
• Rutgers jumped ahead in the 61st minute on a penalty kick that was awarded after Indiana committed a foul in the box.
• Redshirt-freshman midfielder Ava Akeel nearly found the equalizer in the 78th minute of the match on a downward header from sophomore forward Jordyn Levy. She sent it right in the center of the box at the foot of Akeel but couldn't get it past the diving goalkeeper.
