Hoosiers Prepare for Cornell, Xavier

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team will host Cornell and Xavier on Saturday and Sunday at the IU Tennis Center.

The Hoosiers are coming off a challenging weekend in which they traveled to Kentucky for a midweek match on Feb. 15 and had a road trip to No. 20 Tennessee on Feb. 19. Despite the defeats, Indiana is 5-3 on the season and looking ahead to the matches this weekend.
The Hoosiers are 22-15 in singles matches in dual matches this season and 40-29 overall. Lara Schneider leads the way with a 5-1 record and Alexandra Staiculescu has posted a 4-1 record. The Hoosiers are 8-8 in doubles matches in dual match play and 23-17 overall. Mila Mejic and Alexandra Staiculescu are 3-1 in doubles in dual matches this season. Laura Masic and Lara Schneider are 3-3 in dual matches and 9-3 overall this season.
The Hoosiers return six players and added transfer Lara Schneider after she completed her freshman season at Florida State.
Schneider was ranked No. 25 in the 2020 class in the Tennis Recruiting Network and a five-star recruit. She graduated from Wando High School in 2020 and was ranked No. 1 in the girls 16 age division USTA South Region rankings in 2018.
Schneider and teammate Laura Masic went a perfect 6-0 at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship in the fall and qualified for the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego.
