
Hoosiers Fall to No. 6 Stanford

ROUND ROCK, Texas – Facing its second top-10 team in three days the Indiana baseball program dropped an 13-0 decision to No. 6 Stanford in seven innings at Dell Diamond in its finale at the Karbach Round Rock Classic.
Stanford (5-1) opened the scoring with two runs in the second inning, before tacking on three runs each in the fourth and fifth innings, and five runs in the sixth. Indiana (1-5) stranded seven on base in the game.
Starting pitcher Reese Sharp (0-1) allowed five runs on six hits over 3 1/3 innings of work in the loss. He struck out three and walked two in his first career start.
Redshirt-junior Matthew Ellis and redshirt-sophomore Morgan Colopy each collected two hits in the game. Senior Phillip Glasser accounted for the fifth IU hit, while redshirt-sophomore Bobby Whalen and freshman Josh Pyne each walked, and freshman Carter Mathison was hit-by-pitch.
For Stanford, Drew Dowd (2-0) threw four shutout innings with eight strikeouts to earn the win and Joey Dixon (1) picked up the save with three scoreless frames. Brett Barrera drove in four runs with a 3-for-3 effort at the plate, while Adam Crampton had three hits and three RBIs on the afternoon.

A trio of two-out RBIs helped Stanford grow its lead. After Ty Bothwell got out of the fifth inning to limit the damage, he retired two of the first three batters in the sixth. Braden Montgomery doubled to drive in the first RBI and Barrera followed with his fourth RBI of the day. Crampton added his second RBI of the game with a double, before Bothwell got the final out.

A bases-loaded wind-aided single and sacrifice fly helped build Stanford's lead to double digits. Owen Cobb doubled to drive in a pair of runs and Crampton capped the scoring with an RBI single.
