Hoosiers Host Midweek Against Butler, Saturday Doubleheader

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team will host Yale and Marquette this weekend at the IU Tennis Center.

LAST TIME OUT
On Saturday February 5 the Hoosiers hosted Yale. Trailing 3-0 Indiana was not deterred and came all the way back to win the match, 4-3. The Hoosiers got singles wins from Lara Schneider, Alexandra Staiculescu, Mila Mejic and Lexi Kubas. Kubas clinched the match with a three-set victory. The Hoosiers returned the next day with a strong showing in a 5-2 victory against Marquette.
Lara Schneider and Alexandra Staiculescu are a combined 6-0 in singles matches in dual match play this season with each going 3-0. Lexi Kubas has posted a 2-0 singles record in dual match singles. In doubles Schneider and Laura Masic are 7-1 on the season and 1-1 in dual matches.
The Hoosiers return six players and added transfer Lara Schneider after she completed her freshman season at Florida State.
Schneider was ranked No. 25 in the 2020 class in the Tennis Recruiting Network and a five-star recruit. She graduated from Wando High School in 2020 and was ranked No. 1 in the girls 16 age division USTA South Region rankings in 2018.
Schneider and teammate Laura Masic went a perfect 6-0 at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship in the fall and qualified for the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego.
