Baseball Gameday: at Troy

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Riding a four-game winning streak, the Indiana baseball team will hit the road for one final time in the non-conference season with a three-game series at Troy with an altered weekend schedule due to projected wet weather in the area.

The two teams will now play a single game on Friday, March 11 at 3 p.m. ET, before playing a doubleheader on Sunday, March 13 at Noon p.m.

Indiana (6-6) has put together four straight wins after winning the final two games at Missouri State last weekend and grabbing a pair of midweek wins. The Hoosiers shutout Cincinnati and topped Purdue Fort Wayne at Bart Kaufman Field. Troy (8-5) has won three of its last four games and is 6-1 at home this season. The Trojans beat Jacksonville State in a midweek road contest after winning two of the three games over Kennesaw State over the weekend.

Scouting the Opponent

Troy has won three of its last four games and enters the fourth weekend with an 8-5 overall mark. The Trojans are 6-1 at home, including a series win last weekend against Kennesaw State.
Four of the nine everyday starters are hitting .300 or better, led by third baseman Easton Kirk's .355 average in 10 starts.
Rigsby Mosley does a little bit of everything for Troy with 12 starts - including one on the mound - 12 runs scored, nine RBIs and five stolen bases.
On the mound, reliever Grayson Stewart leads the team with two victories, while Friday night starter Garrett Gainous leads the team with 20 strikeouts.
As a pitching staff, Troy has fanned 143 batters and walked just 50 on the year. Trojan pitchers have hit just nine batters but thrown 24 wild pitches.

Series Notes

Troy and Indiana have met three times prior to this weekend's series in Alabama. Indiana owns a 2-1 mark in the all-time series.
The first meeting came in 1996 at Troy, an 8-2 victory for the Hoosiers. The next season, the two teams tangled in Homestead, Florida, in a 4-1 victory for IU.
The last meeting came in 2007 in Dothan, Alabama, where Troy took a 4-3 win to start the season.
