ATLANTA – The No. 14-ranked Indiana women's swimming team saw both of its opening night relays earn honorable mention All-America honors Wednesday (March 16) night inside McAuley Aquatic Center.
IU opened the night with a 1:36.07 in the 200 Medley Relay, tying its seed time and placing one spot above its pre-meet ranking in 15th. The quartet of freshman Kacey McKenna, senior Noelle Peplowski, sophomore Elizabeth Broshears and junior Ashley Turak boast the No. 7 time in program history. Indiana has earned All-America honors in the 200 Medley Relay in six straight seasons and eight of the last nine NCAA Championships.
"I was very happy with the medley relay to start off the session," IU head swimming coach Ray Looze said. "We left some time on the table in the 800 free relay. It's challenging to be in the last heat with your crew, but we've identified some things we can work on to move forward successfully."
In the second and final race of the night the Hoosiers again placed 15th, finishing in 7:01.67. IU has shown an All-America 800 Freestyle Relay in 12 of the last 13 seasons.
Through just two events, IU sits tied for 18 in the team standings with eight points.
