ATLANTA – Indiana earned its 14th straight top-15 finish at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, Wednesday through Saturday (March 16-19) in Atlanta.
The Hoosiers totaled 116 points over the week to place 11th nationally and beat both the CSCAA (15th) and psych sheet projections (19th). Notably, IU finished ahead of SEC runner-up Kentucky and just 11 points behind SEC Champion Tennessee.
And Indiana did it all with a young roster. Of the 14 Hoosiers that saw action in Atlanta, six were freshmen and four were sophomores.
On the final night of competition, IU jumped from 15th to 11th to close out the national meet strong. Sophomore diver Tarrin Gilliland capped an outstanding meet with her second straight NCAA Platform dive title, senior Kristen Hayden placed ninth in the same event and senior Mackenzie Looze and freshman Ching Hwee Gan each earned honorable mention All-America honors in the lap pool.
Indiana totaled 84 points between the three diving events, and the trio of sophomores Tarrin Gilliland, Anne Fowler and senior Kristen Hayden combined for three medals and seven All-America nods. Gilliland was one of two athletes to qualify for the championship final in all three events, while Hayden was an A or B finalist in each event as well.
The Hoosiers totaled 20 All-America honors during the meet. Gilliland, Hayden and Looze led IU with three honors apiece.
