Tibbitts posts game-high four hits to go along with four RBIs
Evansville (8-12) opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first inning and that led to four lead changes in the game. Indiana (8-12) scored two in the bottom of the frame, before UE scored six in the second to retake the lead. Three runs for the Hoosiers in the third was followed by two runs in the fourth to make it all square at 9-9.
After a three-run fifth by Indiana, Evansville scored four in the sixth and four in the eighth, before single runs in the eighth and ninth for IU accounted for the final margin, 17-14.
All nine starters collected at least one hit and five produced multi-hit games, led by freshman Brock Tibbitts' career-high-tying four-hit game. The rookie hit his sixth home run of the season, drove in four RBIs and scored twice in the game. Graduate student Tyler Doanes hits his second home run of the season as part of a two-hit, two-RBI night.
Redshirt-junior Matthew Ellis doubled, walked twice and drove in three RBIs in the game, while senior Phillip Glasser was on base four times with three walks and one double. Freshman Josh Pyne and junior Hunter Jessee each chipped in two-hit games, as Jessee added three runs scored.
Redshirt-junior Jack Perkins (2-2) took the loss with nine runs – four earned – allowed in 3 1/3 innings of work.
Evansville was powered by four home runs and a six-RBI night from Evan Berkey. Mark Shallenberger led off the game with a solo home run, while Berkey, Tanner Craig and Eric Roberts also hit home runs. All nine Purple Ace starters scored at least one run in the game. Drew Dominik (2-1) picked up the win in relief with 3 1/3 innings of one-run work.

Tyler Doanes started out the inning with a single, Phillip Glasser doubled and. Matthew Ellis was then intentionally walked to load up the bases with one out. Brock Tibbitts lined a single up the middle to drive in two runs.

Eric Roberts hit a solo home run to straightaway center to lead off the inning. Brendan Hord walked and Ty Rumsey followed with a single before an error scored two runs. Evan Berkey doubled later in the inning to plate three runs.

With two outs and a man on first, Glasser walked, and Bobby Whalen reached on an error to bring in the first run of the frame. Ellis the doubled to drive in two runs and Josh Pyne followed with an RBI single.

Tibbitts smacked a solo home run to left field on the first pitch of the inning. Jessee lined a single into the right-field gap before Tyler Doanes hit a two-run home run to straightaway center.

Tanner Craig was walked, and Brent Widder then reached on an error. Chase Hug followed with a two-RBI double. Grant Holderfield came into the game with a runner on second and one out and struck out the final two batters to end the threat.

Tibbitts led off the inning with a single and a bunt from Carter Mathison followed. After a sacrifice bunt, a walk loaded the bases. Glasser walked to plate the first run of the inning, before Whalen singled to drive in an RBI. The third walk of the frame to Ellis scored Jessee.

Craig hit a solo home run to left field to open the frame. After Widder singled and Hug walked, Berkey hit a three-run home run.

A pair of walks and a bunt single from Berkey opened the inning. Shallenberger was hit by a pitch, bringing in a run and keeping the bases loaded. With two outs, Simon Scherry hit a three-RBI double into left field.

Following a Pyne single, Tibbitts hit an RBI triple to right field with two outs.
