BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Track & Field returns to competition this weekend with the three-day Pepsi Florida Relays. The meet is scheduled to begin on Thursday, March 31 and wrap up on Saturday, April 2.

Last Time Out: Raleigh Relays
The Hoosiers are coming off a weekend at Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State. Indiana saw a pair of event wins and a plethora of personal bests. Alyssa Robinson and Antonio Laidler swept the 200m for the Hoosiers. Robinson clocked a time of 23.92 while Laidler set a personal record in the event with a time of 21.05. He also recorded a personal best in the 100m with a time of 10.50. Kenny Benton was the runner-up in the 400m where he saw a personal record fall in a time of 46.50. Austin Haskett completed the men's list of personal bests, going 14:15.10 in the 5000m. On the women's side, Morgan Snow captured a PR of 24.39 in the 200m while Kelly Mindak smashed her personal best in the 1500m with a time of 4:28.94. A trio of Hoosiers set new personal records in the 5000m, Sarah Schmitt (15:59.41), Mikaela Ramirez (16:34.31), and Ana Barrott (16:40.09). Bailey Hertenstein had a standout performance in the 5000m where she was the fifth fastest collegiate and seventh overall. She saw a time of 15:49.94 to open the season. On the men's side, Ben Veatch finished as the third collegiate and fifth overall with a time of 13:43.59.
Mark It Up
With the first weekend of outdoor competition for Indiana in the books, a pair of Hoosiers stamped a place on the IU all-time outdoor list. Ben Veatch etched another spot on the all-time list, this time in the outdoor 5000m. Veatch collected the seventh best time at 13:43.59. Alyssa Robinson is No. 10 in the 200m with a time of 23.92. She was also the 200m winner at Raleigh Relays.
Florida, You Are Good to IUTF
Returning to Pepsi Florida Relays for the first time since 2019, Indiana has seen success in Gainesville. In 2019, the Hoosiers saw three event wins, including the sprint medley relay. Rikkoi Brathwaite and Cooper Williams were part of the relay that crossed in a school record time of 3:19.92. Adam Coulon won the pole vault competition with a clearance of 5.52m (18' 1.25"). The men's 4x800m relay saw silver with a time of 7:21.68.
Looking at NCAA Prelims
To qualify for the NCAA East Prelims, an athlete must be in the top-48 of their events and in the top-24 for relays.
24 Hoosier athletes are in the top-48 of their events along with two relays. Looking at IU in the top-10, Ben Veatch currently holds the fastest time in the 5000m with a time of 13:43.59. Kenny Benton is fifth in the 400m, clocking a time of 46.50 at Raleigh Relays. Ryan Lipe is tied for seventh in the pole vault with a clearance of 5.31m (17' 5"). On the women's side, Bailey Hertenstein is tied for fifth and Sarah Schmitt has the ninth fastest time in the 5000m in the East. Hertenstein has a time of 15:49.64 while Sarah Schmitt clocked a personal best of 15:59.41.

Bailey Hertenstein was named the Big Ten Women's Track Athlete of the Week on March 30. Hertenstein gets the accolade after capturing seventh overall in the 5000m with a time of 25:49.94. Hertenstein is fifth in the event in the NCAA so far this season.
