Bats Stay Hot for Hoosiers in Wins over Western Illinois, Valpo

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana softball team continued their offensive production and the pitching staff gave up one run over two games as the Hoosiers beat Western Illinois 3-1 and prevailed over Valparaiso 9-0 on Saturday at Andy Mohr Field.
Game 1: Indiana: 3, Western Illinois 1
Key Moments
• First inning Cora Basset hit a lead-off homerun to center field to put the Hoosiers ahead 1-0
•Basset hit her second home run of the game in the third, scoring Kinsey Mitchell, who reached on an error, and put the Hoosiers up 3-0
•Western Illinois scored one run in the 6th inning to cut the Hoosiers lead to 3-1

• Basset's homerun in the first was her 4th of the season, she hit her 5th of the season in the third.
• Brianna Copeland pitched six innings for the Hoosiers and got the win. Copeland recorded two strikeouts.
• Grayson Radcliffe and Kinsey Mitchell each tallied a stolen base.

• Cora Bassett and Grayson Radcliffe singled, advanced on passed balls and scored on a single to center by Brianne Copeland to put the Hoosiers up 2-0 in the first inning.
• The Hoosiers scored six runs in the third inning. Desiree Dufek's RBI double scored three runs.
• Brianna Copeland hit a home run in the fourth to put the Hoosiers up 9-0.

• Macy Montgomery pitched four innings to get the win for the Hoosiers.
