Indiana Shoots Season-Low Round, Finishes Seventh

BLUFFTON, S.C. – The Indiana Hoosiers men's golf team shot a 13-under 275, the program's lowest single round since 2016, in the final round of the Colleton River Collegiate at the Jack Nicklaus Course on Tuesday.

The Hoosiers finished seventh after compiling a three-round score of 856 (295-286-275, -8).

• Sophomore Drew Salyers became the first Hoosier since Brock Ochsenreiter at the 2018 Steelwood Collegiate Invitational to turn in a scorecard at 65 or under after shooting a 7-under 65 in the final round on Tuesday.

• His round consisted of one eagle (No. 14), five birdies and zero bogeys. He hit three birdie and one eagle putt from No. 13 to No. 16 to make a last-minute charge up the leaderboard. Overall, he finished in a tie for fourth after shooting a 206 (75-66-65, -10) for the tournament.

• The 65 was the tied for the lowest round of any player in the field and he was one of four players to play back-to-back rounds in the 60's during the tournament.

• As a team, Indiana's final round of 275 tied for ninth-best single round score in program history and the lowest score since shooting a 271 at the 2016 Loyola Intercollegiate.

• Junior Noah Gillard played his third-straight round at or under par with a 1-under 71 over the final 18. His consistent play was highlighted by birdie on No. 3 and No. 14. Gillard finished t-18th after shooting a 214 (72-71-71, -2), his fourth top-20 finish of the season.

• Senior Mitch Davis matched Gillard with a 1-under 71 after converting six birdie opportunities, including four on the back nine. He finished the tournament tied for 35th at 219 (75-73-71, +3).

• Sophomore Clay Merchent shot his best round of collegiate golf since the final round of the Windon Memorial Classic (Sept. 28, 2021) with a 4-under 68. He converted six birdie attempts, including five in his first 10 holes. He finished t-41st overall after shooting a 220 (73-79-68, +4).

• Fifth-year senior Ethan Shepherd concluded the tournament with an even par 72 in a round that consisted of five birdies. He finished in a tie for 64th after shooting a 227 (79-76-72, +11).
