Hoosiers Take on Dynamic Field at Kepler Intercollegiate

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana men's golf team is set to conclude the 2021-22 regular season with a challenging field at the 50th annual Kepler Intercollegiate at the Columbus Country Club in Columbus, Ohio. The first two rounds are scheduled to be played on April 23.

• Four programs in the field rank inside the top-50 of the latest GolfWeek rankings, headlined by Illinois (No. 20). Michigan State (No. 33), Ohio State (No. 34) and Northwestern (No. 48) round out the highest ranked teams in the field.
• Indiana in one of 12 teams that have won the event over the last 49 years of competition and one of only four teams to have won the tournament at least four times. Indiana's last of the four team titles came in the 1980 season after winning three of four years from 1970-73.
• Two Hoosiers have claimed the individual crown at the Kepler Intercollegiate. All-American Wayne McDonald (1971) was the first to win, followed by honorable mention All-American Kevin Proctor in 1973.
• The tournament is named for the late Robert Kepler, who served as Ohio State's golf coach from 1938-65. Kepler coached future golf great Jack Nicklaus to an individual national championship.
• The Hoosiers will be paired with Kent State and Northwestern in the opening round with a projected start time of 7:40 a.m. ET of the 10th tee box.
TEAM NOTES
• Indiana won the Big Ten Match Play Championships team title for the second time in as many seasons. The Hoosiers took down Penn State (3.5-1.5), Purdue (3-2) and Michigan State (3-2) in consecutive matches to earn the win.
• Senior Mitch Davis won all three of his individual matches against the Big Ten field to secure the conference's player of the week honors on Feb. 10.
• Sophomore Drew Salyers has twice been named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week (Sept. 8 and Sept. 22) after winning his first tournament as a member of the Cream and Crimson at the Hoosier Collegiate and earned a second-straight top-5 finish at the Fighting Illini Invitational.
• The Hoosiers check in at No. 59 in the latest GolfWeek Collegiate Rankings.
