
Indiana Women’s Tennis Hosts Final Home Weekend

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team will welcome Minnesota and Wisconsin to Bloomington this weekend.

Last week the Hoosiers picked up a 4-3 win on the road at Rutgers. The doubles point came down to No. 1 with Laura Masic and Lara Schneider winning a tiebreaker 7-5 to give Indiana the point. Rutgers won three straight singles matches to go up 3-2, but Schneider and Rose Hu won to clinch the match for the Hoosiers.
Minnesota comes in with a record of 15-9 overall and 3-6 in Big Ten matches. Last time out the Golden Gophers beat Penn State 4-2. The Badgers enter the weekend with a 14-8 overall record and 6-3 mark in Big Ten play. Wisconsin has won three of their last four with wins against Maryland, Minnesota and Penn State and a 5-2 loss against No. 11 Ohio State.
Indiana has posted a record of 52-59 in dual match singles play. Lara Schneider is 12-5 on the season in singles and Staiculescu is 11-7. In doubles the Hoosiers are 23-20 combined in dual matches, with Schneider and Masic leading the way at 10-7. They have won their last two doubles matches.
The Hoosiers return six players and added transfer Lara Schneider after she completed her freshman season at Florida State.
Schneider was ranked No. 25 in the 2020 class in the Tennis Recruiting Network and a five-star recruit. She graduated from Wando High School in 2020 and was ranked No. 1 in the girls 16 age division USTA South Region rankings in 2018.
Schneider and teammate Laura Masic went a perfect 6-0 at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship in the fall and qualified for the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego.
