Hoosiers Fall in Extra Innings to No. 10 Wildcats

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana softball had a 7-3 lead through four innings, but No. 10 Northwestern tied the game in the sixth and won it 13-8 in nine innings on Saturday at Andy Mohr Field.

• Indiana pitcher Heather Johnson retired the first three batters of Northwestern in the first inning.
• The Wildcats scored three runs in the top of the second inning.
• The Hoosiers responded with four runs in the bottom half of the second inning. Indiana loaded the bases and Brooke Benson walked to score the first run.
• Cora Bassett hit a single through the left side to score two more for the Hoosiers.
• In the third inning Sarah Stone doubled to center field to score Desiree Dufek.
• In the fourth inning Cora Bassett homered to put the Hoosiers up 6-3. Brianna Copeland doubled and scored Taylor Minnick to put Indiana up 7-3.
