Hoosiers Place Sixth at Kepler Intercollegiate

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Indiana Hoosiers men's golf team finished sixth overall at the 50th annual Kepler Intercollegiate at the Columbus Country Club on Sunday. The Hoosiers shot 859 (285-284-290, -5) over the weekend.

• As a team, Indiana tallied 52 birdies and an eagle in three rounds of play at the Columbus Country Club.
• Sophomore Clay Merchent shot an IU-best 70 (-2) in the final round. His play was steady and included three birdie conversions scattered throughout the round. He tied for sixth overall after shooting a 211 (69-72-70, -5).
• Merchent's score and to-par score both marked the second-best figures of his career and established new season-best numbers. He played a card of 209 (-7) at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate in his first career tournament at Indiana from Feb. 14-16, 2021.
• He also netted his fifth-career top-10 finish and first since securing a fourth-place effort in the Boilermaker Invitational on April 11, 2021.
• Fifth-year senior Ethan Shepherd turned in another solid round on Sunday with an even-par 72. His day consisted of three birdie conversions to give him 10 for the weekend. He finished tied for 19th with a score of 217 (76-69-72, +1).
• Senior Mitch Davis shot a 1-over 73 on the day. The highlight of his round came with a flurry of three birdies in four holes around the turn. He matched Shepherd's score of 217 (72-72-73, +1) to tie for 19th.
• Sophomores Drew Salyers played a 3-over 75 scorecard on Sunday to finish at 218 (72-71-75, +2) for the weekend. He converted a pair of birdies in the round and tied for 28th place in the individual standings.
• Senior Harry Reynolds played his final round at a 3-over 75 with a birdie on No. 13. His three-round scorecard read 233 (72-76-75; +7) over the weekend.
• Playing as an individual, fifth-year senior Evan Yakubov tallied one birdie in his final round of 78 (+6). He wrapped the tournament shooting a 227 (76-73-78, +11).
