
Indiana to Compete in 2022 Big Ten Championship

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana men's golf team will begin postseason play with the 2022 Big Ten Championship at The Pete Dye Course in French Lick. The three-day tournament is scheduled to be played from April 29-May 1.

• Five programs in the field rank inside the top-50 of the latest GolfWeek rankings, headlined by Illinois (No. 19). Purdue (No. 25), Ohio State (No. 29), Michigan State (No. 45), and Northwestern (No. 46) round out the highest ranked teams in the field.
• The Hoosiers will be paired with Michigan State and Northwestern in the opening round with a projected start time of 9:45 a.m. ET of the first tee box.
INDIANA IN THE BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS
• Indiana has won the Big Ten Championship eight times, most recently coming in the 1997-98 season. IU has also earned runner-up accolades on 12 occasions, including the 2011-12 season.
• The Indiana program has produced eight Big Ten individual champions with Jorge Campillo (2008) being the most recent winner. Jeff Overton (2005), Shaun Michael (1991), Mike Ingram (1984), Bob Ackerman and Gary Biddinger (1975), Don Padgett (1969) and Byron Cornstock (1964)
• Last season Indiana finished sixth in the conference tournament. Ethan Shepherd led the Hoosiers with a ninth-place finish at 223 (79-71-73; +7).
TEAM NOTES
• Indiana won the Big Ten Match Play Championships team title for the second time in as many seasons. The Hoosiers took down Penn State (3.5-1.5), Purdue (3-2) and Michigan State (3-2) in consecutive matches to earn the win.
• Senior Mitch Davis won all three of his individual matches against the Big Ten field to secure the conference's player of the week honors on Feb. 10.
• Sophomore Drew Salyers has twice been named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week (Sept. 8 and Sept. 22) after winning his first tournament as a member of the Cream and Crimson at the Hoosier Collegiate and earned a second-straight top-5 finish at the Fighting Illini Invitational.
• The Hoosiers check in at No. 60 in the latest GolfWeek Collegiate Rankings.
