Hoosiers Set for Big Ten Tournament

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team will start the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday as the No. 10 seed and will take on No. 7 seed Maryland.

The Hoosiers and Terrapins squared off in College Park on April 15 with Maryland winning the match 4-0. The Hoosiers top doubles team of Laura Masic and Lara Schneider won their match 6-2. The doubles point came to No. 3 where Maryland edged Indiana with a 7-6 (7-3) win.
Maryland comes into the tournament having won three of their last four matches. In the final weekend of the regular season they lost 5-2 at Ohio State and won 4-1 against Penn State.
Indiana has posted a record of 52-68 in dual match singles play. Lara Schneider is 12-6 on the season in singles and Staiculescu is 11-8. In doubles the Hoosiers are 25-34 combined in dual matches, with Schneider and Masic leading the way at 11-8. They have won their last two doubles matches.
The Hoosiers return six players and added transfer Lara Schneider after she completed her freshman season at Florida State.
Schneider was ranked No. 25 in the 2020 class in the Tennis Recruiting Network and a five-star recruit. She graduated from Wando High School in 2020 and was ranked No. 1 in the girls 16 age division USTA South Region rankings in 2018.
Schneider and teammate Laura Masic went a perfect 6-0 at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship in the fall and qualified for the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego.
