Hoosiers Collect 18 Top-5 Finishes On Day One of Tennessee Relays

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Indiana Track & Field kicked off the Tennessee Relays on a rainy and cold Friday in Knoxville.
KEY MOMENTS
• In the women's 1500m invite, Sarah Schmitt crossed first overall with a time of 4:24.84. Turning to the men's race, Camden Marshall collected a personal a record of 3:46.82 for the third place finish.
• Shaton Vaughn competed in the 400m hurdles during power hour where he clocked a time of 53.69 and a second-place finish.
• Kenny Benton got the Hoosiers off to a fast start on the oval with a second-place finish in the 100m with a personal best time of 10.37.
• Micah Camble saw his best finish in the open 400m hurdles as he was third and captured a time of 54.56.
• It was another personal record-breaking meet for Morgan Snow, capturing a time of 54.10 in the 400m. Snow picked up fourth along with the personal best.
• In the open 800m, Elizabeth Stanhope took gold and crossed in a time of 2:10.38.
• Gabriel Sanchez led the Hoosiers in the open 1500m with a time of 3:51.86.
• On the women's side, Kelly Mindak, Mariah Wehrle, and Mikaela Ramirez finished in second, third, and fourth, respectively. Mindak clocked a personal record of 4:26.39 while Wehrle ran a time of 4:28.01. Ramirez rounded out the trio with a personal record time of 4:29.06.
• In the field, Paola Fernandez as the top-collegiate finisher and second overall in the long jump after leaping a mark of 6.08m (19' 11.5").
• Rounding out the day for the Hoosiers was Anna Watson in pole vault invite. Watson cleared a height of 3.92m (12' 10.25") to place third.
NOTABLES
• Indiana secured 18 top-5 finishes, including two victories, and five personal records on day one of Tennessee Relays.
• Olivia Gee ran her first collegiate 200m where she clocked a time of 25.43.
• Cooper Williams made his debut in the 400m for the first time this season, capturing fifth place and time of 50.19.
• Mahogany Jenkins had a season best finish of fourth in the high jump with a cleared height of 1.68m (5' 6").
• Tristan Forsythe, Gabriel Sanchez, Mariah Wehrle, and Phoebe Bates ran their first career 1500m on Friday night.
• Shanna Esters competed in the javelin for the first time in her IU career.

Indiana will wrap up its stint at the Tennessee Relays on Saturday, April 9 beginning at 11 a.m. The men's pole vault and men's high jump will kick it off for the Hoosiers.
