
Baseball Drops Decision at No. 7 Louisville

Tibbitts collects 13th multi-hit game at Louisville
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The offense got started early for the Indiana baseball program, but No. 7 Louisville was able to rally for the 7-2 victory on Tuesday (May 10) at Jim Patterson Stadium.
Indiana (22-26) jumped out to an early lead with a single run in the first inning, before Louisville (34-13-1) scored two in the third and one in the fourth. A single Hoosier run in the sixth closed the gap to one run, but the Cardinals scored one in the bottom of the sixth and added three in the eighth to account for the final margin.
For the second straight game, freshman Brock Tibbitts led the offense with a multi-hit game, as he collected two hits and walked once. It is the 13th multi-hit game of the season for Tibbitts. Redshirt-sophomore Bobby Whalen and junior Hunter Jessee each singled and scored one run. Freshman Carter Mathison and redshirt-junior Hunter Jessee each drove in RBIs.
Junior Ty Bothwell (2-2) made his first start of the season and allowed two runs on one hit in the loss. He walked two and struck out four batters.
Ben Metzinger and Dalton Rushing each hit home runs and drove in three RBIs in the game. Ben Bianco had a game-high three hits and scored twice. Carson Liggitt (1-0) picked up the win in relief with two innings of scoreless work.
