BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana men's soccer coach Todd Yeagley announced the program's 2022 schedule ahead of its 50th season on Thursday (May 26).
The slate will feature 10 regular season matches on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium. Season tickets are on sale now, with more information below.
The 17-match regular season will see the Hoosiers face eight teams that played in the 2021 NCAA Tournament including two that reached the NCAA College Cup. Eleven of IU's opponents finished top-60 in the end-of-season RPI ranking.
"This is a special season for IU men's soccer," Yeagley said. "We are celebrating the 50th varsity season of Indiana men's soccer, and we look forward to having our fans and alumni share in this historic season. We have once again put together a very challenging schedule, making each match an important building block to help this team compete for championships. Our loyal fans and electric student section, the Hoosier Army, help make Bill Armstrong Stadium a special college soccer venue."
Indiana's first five matches come against 2021 tournament teams. The new campaign kicks off Friday, August 26 in a road match again reigning national champion Clemson. More information about the matchup with the Tigers can be found here. Then, IU will host four consecutive home non-conference matches against Portland (Aug. 30), Notre Dame (Sept. 3) and St. John's (Sept. 6) in the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic and Akron (Sept. 9).
IU's non-conference slate also includes contests at Butler (Sept. 14), versus Kentucky (Oct. 5), versus Trine (Oct. 21) and at Evansville (Oct. 25).
The Hoosiers open Big Ten play Sunday, September 18, at Ohio State before hosting Michigan State (Sept. 23) and Northwestern (Sept. 27) in back-to-back home conference matches. IU will bookend the Kentucky match with road Big Ten games at Michigan (Oct. 2) and Rutgers (Oct. 9) ahead of its meeting with reigning conference champion Penn State (Oct. 14) at Bill Armstrong Stadium. Indiana will travel to Wisconsin on October 18 before closing Big Ten and regular season play in Bloomington against Maryland (Oct. 30), which received an at-large bid to the tournament last season.
Indiana will try for its fourth Big Ten Tournament title in five seasons when the three-round tournament plays out from November 6-13. IU has earned a spot in the final match in five straight seasons. The NCAA men's soccer season will conclude with the NCAA College Cup, scheduled for December 9-11 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.
IU will play three exhibition matches in August before kicking off the regular season. First, the Hoosiers host DePaul on August 12 at Bill Armstrong Stadium. Then, IU will meet 2021 NCAA Tournament opponent Bowling Green at the Grand Park Sports Complex in Indianapolis on August 16. Indiana's final preseason tune-up will be an away friendly at Louisville on August 19.
