BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Nine members of the Indiana rowing team were selected winners of the CRCA Scholar-Athlete Award as announced by the organization on Friday (June 24).

IU's selections include Madeline Anderson, Sophie Bowden, Sophie Carmosino, Jayna Dolfi, Erin Heapy, Libby Krueger, Ruby Leverington, Avery Thorpe and Victoria Vicory. The nine honorees is the program's most since 2012 and just short of the program standard set in 2011 with 10 selections.

In order to qualify for the honor, athletes needed to maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher, be of at least sophomore standing academically and row in an NCAA-eligible boat for a minimum of 75 percent of the season's races.

Friday's announcement comes during a great academic season for IU rowing, which saw a program record 31 student-athletes earn Academic All-Big Ten selections earlier this month.

The 2021-22 season wrapped up with IU tying its program-best finish at the Big Ten Rowing Championships in May, placing fourth in the field. The day was highlighted by a bronze medal performance by Indiana's first varsity 8 crew. IU's top boat included the Big Ten Rowing Athlete of the Year, Laura Feinson.
