Current and Former Hoosiers Find Success at Respective National Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Over the weekend, Indiana Track Field saw athletes along with IU Alumni compete at the USATF Outdoor National Championships and the Irish Life Health National Track and Field Championships.
Competing in the Irish National Championship, Sean Mockler won the hammer throw with a mark of 65.33m (). This is the first national title for Mockler in a senior event.
Maddy Pollard and Jayden Ulrich competed in the USATF National Championships out in Eugene, Ore. In the shot put, Ulrich put a mark of 16.87m (55' 4.25") for 14th place while Pollard saw 16th with a throw of 16.69m (54' 9.25").
Ulrich also saw the opportunity to compete in the discus.
Turning to alumni, the Hoosiers had five competing at the US national championships. Daniel Michalski was the lone former Hoosier on the track as he made the final of the steeplechase. Michalski clocked a time of 8:41.49 to place 13th in the final.
In the field, Sophie Gutermuth and Scott Houston competed in the pole vault while Khayla Dawson and Monique Riddick saw action in the shot put.
During the pole vault competition, Scott Houston took home a 12th place finish with a clearance of 5.50m (18' 0.5").
Riddick threw a mark of 17.60m (57' 9") as she placed ninth in the shot put competition. Dawson picked up 14th and heaved a mark of 16.94m (55' 7").
