
Indiana Plays to 0-0 Draw Against Ball State

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's soccer team (0-0-3) dominated the possession but were unable to find the back of the net in a 0-0 draw against the Ball State Cardinals (0-1-2) on Thursday evening at the Indiana soccer practice fields.
KEY MOMENTS
• Freshman forward Izzy Smith had Indiana's best chance in the first half off a free kick in the 33rd minute. The chance from outside the 18-yard box sailed high of frame.
• Smith provided the first true scoring chance for either team in the 54th minutes with a take from distance. The shot was deflected out by a diving sophomore keeper Bethany Moser from Ball State.
• Just two minute later Indiana nearly capitalized on a counter attack from junior forward Jen Blitchok. Her shot was deflected off the post and out of play.
NOTABLES
• Sophomore keeper Jamie Gerstenberg was not test much in the match but was able to make a save in her one opportunity. The shutout marked the 12th of her career, the fifth most in program history, passing Shaunna Daugherty (2000-03) and Shannon Flower (2010-13) on the all-time list.
• Indiana has held opponents to one goal or fewer in 18-of-19 career starts.
• This marks the fifth season in program history in which the Hoosiers have held their opponent scoreless in three-straight matches to open the season.
• IU held statistical advantages in shots (12-6), shots on goal (2-1) and corners taken (11-5).
• The match marked the first career start for freshman defender Natasha Kim, while sophomore midfielder Sydney Masur and sophomore forward Jordyn Levy each made their 20th career appearances.
