BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––– Indiana Field Hockey lost in a defensive battle to No. 6 Liberty, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at home.
The loss drops Indiana's record to 0-2 after the first weekend of the season.
Sunday afternoon's contest marked the final game of the Hoosier Invitational, between IU, Liberty, and Kent State.
KEY MOMENTS
• Liberty's Daniella Rhodes recorded both of Liberty's goals, getting the first in at the 17th minute mark, and then scoring again midway through the third period at the 40th minute.
• The Indiana defense didn't allow Liberty to get off a shot in the first quarter and only allowed one for the first half.
• Sophomore Arabella Loveridge was active in the cage, recording seven saves, including five in the fourth period.
• Sophomore Sofia Arrebola Garcia and freshman Anna Mozeleski each got a shot off, but both were off the mark.
NOTABLES
• Seventeen Hoosiers saw the field, including the same set of starters and reserves who played in the season opener vs. Kent State.
• The Indiana defense limited Liberty's explosive offensive attack. The day before, on Aug. 27, Liberty beat Kent State, 9-0, the Hoosiers only allowed the Eagles to score two.
• This was the first meeting in program history between Indiana and Liberty.
• Senior Kennedy Reardon made her 37th consecutive start for Indiana.

• IU will hit the road next weekend for a long trip out to the west coast as they'll play a trio of California programs. On Friday, Sept. 2, they'll face Stanford at 2:00 p.m. EST, then on Sunday Sept. 4, the Hoosiers will take on California at 2:00 p.m. EST, and they'll close out the trip with a Monday Sept. 5 matchup against UC Davis at 12:00 p.m. EST.
