
Indiana Field Hockey Beats Stanford in Overtime Thriller

STANFORD, Calif. ––– The Indiana Field Hockey team picked up their first win of the season in dramatic finish Friday afternoon. After an intense, back-and-forth contest going nearly eight minutes into overtime, sophomore midfielder Maggie Carter beat one defender in the circle before sneaking the ball past the keeper to secure a 3-2 Indiana win over Stanford.
The win brings Indiana's record to 1-2 and gets their three-game west California trip off to a good start.
KEY MOMENTS
• Sophomore Maggie Carter scored the game-winning goal in the 68th minute of the contest. It was her only shot taken for the game.
• Freshman midfielder Jule Hufer scored the first two goals of Indiana's season. They also marked her first two goals of her career. Both goals were equalizers to Stanford's previous 1-0, and 2-1, leads.
• Hufer's first goal came at 32' and was assisted by redshirt junior Sydney Keld. Her second goal tied the game at 55', with just five minutes to go. It was assisted by freshman Anna Mozeleski.
• Junior Meghan Dillon broke up a key Stanford offensive opportunity in the circle to keep the game tied at 2-2 with four minutes left in the fourth period.
