Indiana Hosts Memphis for Sunday Evening Matchup

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's soccer team (1-0-4) will host the Memphis Tigers (4-3-0) on Sunday evening in their USA themed Salute to Service Day in honor of 9/11. The first pitch between the Hoosiers and Tigers is set for 5:00 p.m. ET at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
BTN+ will provide a stream of the match with Kevin Vera (PxP) and Austin Platt (Analyst) and Gwen Parks (Sideline) on the call. Live stats of the match can be tracked on IUHoosiers.com.
ABOUT THE TIGERS
• The Memphis Tigers are led by long-time head coach Brooks Monaghan and enter Sunday's match with a record of 4-3-0. Memphis is coming off a 3-0 victory against FAU after struggling against Louisville and #5 Virginia.
• The Tigers have saw 10 different players get the ball in the back of the net this season.
• Sophomore midfielders Momo Nakao and Anne-Valerie Seto lead the team with three goals each while sophomore forward Jocelyn Alonzo leads with four assists on the season.
• The sophomore duo set the tone for the Tiger's offense in points (13), assists (1), shots (23) and shots on goal (16).
• Memphis has saw three goalkeepers this season with freshman Sarah Bozeman leading the team with 360 minutes played earning two victories. She has tallied 10 saves (0.536 save percentage) and allowed nine goals (2.25 goals against average). The O'Fallon, Mo., native has recorded one shutout this season.
SERIES HISTORY
• The two sides have met three times before with the first of the meetings happening in the 2005 season where the Hoosiers defeated the Tigers 5-0. Memphis leads the series 2-1.
• Indiana is looking for its first win since the 2021 season. Memphis has dominated in the last two matches with a pair of shutout victories in 2017 (2-0) and 2021 (2-0).
• IU is 9-9-0 all time against schools currently in the American Athletic Conference.
LAST TIME OUT
• Indiana saw their first opportunity from senior forward Paige Webber in the 27th minute before it was saved by Louisville's goalie Erynn Floyd.
• After subbing in the 36th minute, freshman midfielder Izzy Smith had a strong shot at the center of the goal before it was caught by Floyd once again.
• Sophomore goalkeeper Jamie Gerstenberg picked up a save in the 39th minute to keep the match tied as the Cardinals had the last attempt before the half.
• Louisville attacked first in the second half before it went back-and-forth between the Hoosiers and Cards. Gerstenberg picked up two big saves in the 69th and 81st minutes to keep the game tied up.
• In the 79th minute, the Hoosiers saw another attempt from Webber to score, before being pounced on by the goalie.
• Indiana received the last attempt in the 88th minute from freshman Abbey Iler but couldn't get it behind the net before the goalie dived for the save.
• IU earned its fourth draw of the season in just five games.
• Gerstenberg tallied four saves on the night and earned her fifth shutout game of the season and 14th on her career.
INDIANA DEFENSE
• The Hoosiers have shutout five consecutive opponents, extending their scoreless streak to a total of 450 minutes this season.
• This is the third longest consecutive scoreless streak in IU history followed by the 2015 run (463 minutes) and the 1993 inaugural season (720 minutes).
