BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Despite an opening-set victory, a pair of two-point losses in the second and fourth sets was enough to see the Indiana Volleyball team (7-5, 0-0) take a 3-1 defeat to No. 21 Western Kentucky in the final game of the WKU Invitational.
IU held leads late in the second and fourth sets but were unable to close either of them out after dominating the first frame. The No. 21 Hilltoppers were able to shake off that first set to the tune of a 19-25, 26-24, 25-12, 25-23 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Morgan Geddes hit .375 with 13 kills while Mady Saris supplied a near career-high with 17 kills, but it wasn't enough. The Hoosiers hit just .185 in comparison to Western Kentucky's .307 on the afternoon.
IU ends the non-conference portion of the schedule with a 7-5 record and will head into conference play next week with a trip to Penn State (Sept. 23) and Maryland (Sept. 25).
