More Than 30 Local Businesses to Be Represented at First Bloomington NIL Community Connect Mixer

Bloomington, Indiana – More than 30 Bloomington-area businesses will be represented at tonight's first Name, Image and Likeness Community Connect Mixer, which gets underway at 7 p.m. at the Henke Hall of Champions in Memorial Stadium.
Spearheaded by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee within IU's Intercollegiate Department of Athletics, tonight's event is designed to serve two purposes. First, it will provide attendees with an overview of the NCAA and IU Athletics rules and protocols related to Name, Image and Likeness. Secondly, it will offer a look at the multitude of NIL partnership opportunities now available for businesses to make with IU student-athletes, ranging from in-kind deals, traditional endorsements, and public appearances, among others.
"I'm thrilled with the response from the Bloomington business community; business owners have been excited to learn about NIL and the opportunity to work with Hoosier athletes," said SAAC President Margaret Rogers. "With more than 30 businesses attending, I am very hopeful that the NIL agreements stemming from the Mixer today will increase all IU athletes' appreciation for our local business community. We are all still navigating NIL and the first IU Community Connect Mixer will open doors for athletes from all 24 sports!"
Many businesses from a wide array of industries will be on hand tonight. Representatives from the food/restaurant, fitness, hotel, insurance, wealth management, telecommunications, and media industries, among others, have all committed to participate in the event.
