
Indiana Dominates Iowa 3-0 in Big Ten Home Opener

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – It was all Hoosiers from the jump on Wednesday night in Wilkinson Hall.
After dominating the first two sets, the Indiana Volleyball team (9-6, 2-1) fended off Iowa in the third to complete the straight-sets victory 25-16, 25-10, 25-20.
It marks the first time IU has won back-to-back conference matches since 2018 (Rutgers and Ohio State).
The Hoosiers are now 3-2 in Big Ten home openers under head coach Steve Aird and are 2-1 in conference play for the first time since the 2018 campaign.
Morgan Geddes led the way with 12 kills while hitting .391 on the evening. Camryn Haworth provided 32 assists while Paula Cerame dug 18 balls for the Hoosiers.
The Hoosiers continue their homestand Saturday night when No. 6 Ohio State visits Wilkinson Hall at 7:00 PM.
SET 1 (Indiana 25, Iowa 16)
• IU jumped out to a 5-2 advantage behind a service ace from Mady Saris and a pair of Iowa attacking errors.
• Morgan Geddes and Mady Saris dominated offensively in the opening frame, providing a pair of kills each as IU went on a 4-1 run to take a 10-6 lead.
• IU closed out the set on a 10-4 run following a timeout with three kills from Savannah Kjolhede in the final final 14 points to secure the 25-16 win.
SET 2 (Indiana 25, Iowa 10)
• After exchanging points in the early stages of the set, Savannah Kjolhede caught fire from the endline, serving IU on a 12-0 run to blow the set open at 18-7.
• Paula Cerame closed out the set with a pair of aces as IU blitzed Iowa 25-10 in the second frame.
SET 3 (Indiana 25, Iowa 20)
• After falling behind 15-10 in the third set, Emily Fitzner served the Hoosiers back into the frame following IU's second timeout. She sparked a 5-0 run including a pair of aces as IU leveled the score at 17-all.
• Iowa ball-handling errors allowed Morgan Geddes to slam home back-to-back over balls and give the Hoosiers a 24-20 lead.
• An Iowa attacking error closed the affairs on Wednesday night with IU taking the final set 25-20.
