Indiana Drops Competitive Match with NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. – Despite a pair of back-and-forth sets to open Thursday night's match, the Indiana Volleyball team fell to NC State 3-0 to end the day in Raleigh.
The Hoosiers battled to the brink in the first two sets, ultimately falling to the Wolfpack 23-25, 23-25, 18-25 in front of more than 1,100 fans at Reynolds Coliseum.
Morgan Geddes paced the Hoosiers with 13 kills, a career high, but a team hitting percentage of .181 along with 18 attack errors came back to haunt as the match progressed.
IU will have the chance to close the weekend on a positive note when it meets Big 12 opposition TCU on Friday morning in Raleigh.
KEY MOMENTS
• Mady Saris and Kaley Rammelsberg provided kills early on as the Hoosiers jumped out to a 14-12 lead in the first set.
• Back-to-back kills followed by a solo block from Morgan Geddes helped spawn a 17-14 lead and a timeout from the Wolfpack in the first set.
• NC State went on to win the opening set 25-23.
• With Savannah Kjolhede serving, IU went on a 3-0 run in the second set to close the gap to a 16-18 deficit against the Wolfpack.
