BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Behind massive days from Jenna Barker, Jake Gebhardt and Jayden Ulrich, the Hoosiers closed out the final day of the Indiana Relays in style.
Both Gebhardt and Ulrich moved up the program top-10 lists with IU taking the Big Ten lead in the 3000 meters on both the men's and women's sides.
Ulrich threw a massive lifetime best of 17.53m/57-6.25 in the Shot Put to move up to fourth in program history and fourth in the NCAA this season.
In a competitive field featuring last year's NCAA Outdoor Champion, Ulrich finished third and moved up to third in the Big Ten in the event. She's the top underclassmen on the national descending order list and is creeping towards becoming just the second Hoosier to throw 18 meters during the indoor season.
Gebhardt and Barker continued their tear on the indoor season, each clocking big personal bests to win their respective sides of the 3000 meters.
Barker closed in 32.75 over the final 200 meters to blow away the competition in 9:21.46. It was a near-nine second lifetime best in the event as she vaulted to the top of the Big Ten rankings. Maddie Dalton was third in 9:26.18.
Phoebe Bates (9:33.49), Alyssa Skorge (9:39.84) and Katelyn Winton (9:40.32) all finished in the top-10 as well.
Gebhardt 29.60 and 29.31 on his final two laps to roll to the seventh-best time in program history at 7:52.97, passing current assistant coach Andrew Poore along the way.
He takes over the Big Ten lead at the end of January. The Sterling, Ill. native also ranks third in the Mile (3:59.18) and has run 1:51 at 800 meters during this indoor campaign.
Sarah Schmitt made her return to the track for her first full race since the NCAA Cross Country National Championships in November.
She ran a 4:45.71 Mile to match her personal best. Her time sits sixth in the conference and puts three Hoosiers among the top-eight times in the Big Ten this season.
Antonio Laidler won the 60 meters on Saturday morning, clocking a 6.75 in the finals. He came back later and ran 48.99 on second leg in the 4x400 relay.
Parker Raymond ran 1:49.98 across 800 meters before throwing down the fastest 4x400 leg (48.44) of the evening to help the Hoosiers to victory.
The Hoosiers return to action at Notre Dame for the Meyo Invitational next weekend.
