Holmes Returns Home With No. 17 Hoosiers To Face Maine On Thursday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Graduate student forward Mackenzie Holmes will play in her homestate on Thursday night when No. 17 Indiana travels to Cross Insurance Arena on Thursday to face Maine at 7 p.m. ET.

Maine went 1-2 in action at the Vibrant Thanksgiving Classic with a win over Louisiana Tech. Anne Simon leads her team with 15.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game while Adrianna Smith is adding a double-double average of 12.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. Smith was named the American East Player of the Week on Monday.

- Holmes will have the opportunity to play her first collegiate game in her homestate when the Hoosiers visit Cross Insurance Arena on Thursday in Portland. The Gorham, Maine native has history in the building, as she helped the Gorham Rams to three state title appearances.
- Indiana picked up a pair of wins over then No. 19 Tennessee (71-57) and Princeton (72-63) at the 2023 Elevance Health Fort Myers Tip-Off Classic. The game against Tennessee, which aired on FOX, was the most watched women's college basketball game ever on the network and largest watched this season.
- Sophomore guard Yarden Garzon went off for a career-high 23 points and 5-for-7 from beyond the arc in a Thanksgiving win over then No. 19 Tennessee. She celebrated her 20th birthday on Thursday as well, as she helped IU hit a season-high 10 triples in the 71-57 win.
- Senior guard Sara Scalia once again lit it up from 3-point range as she averaged 19.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.0 steals while shooting 53.8 percent from the 3-point line in a pair of wins versus No. 19 Tennessee and Princeton. Her performances earned her a spot on the Big Ten Player of the Week honor roil. The Stillwater, Minn. native shot 51.9 percent from the floor and hit 7 triples in two games while also putting up a +8.0 assist-to-turnover ratio with just one turnover in 72 minutes of action.
