Hoosiers Score 14 in the Third to Down Pitt on Opening Day

KEY MOMENTS
• In the bottom of the first, Bassett earned a lead off hit to put her on base before stealing second and third. She would score of an error made by the Panther's third baseman.
• Sophomore utility Sarah Stone would hit a double up the middle, sending in two Indiana runners to take a 3-0 lead.
• Pitt would bat in two off a single to right center as they cut the deficit to one.
• The Panthers would tie the game off a homerun just inside the left side line.
• The Hoosiers went to work in the third inning as they scored 14 runs and had six hits on the Panthers. Sophomore infielder Brianna Copeland had two hits and three RBI in the inning.
• Pitt scored two after a couple of base hits to cut the deficit, but the Hoosiers would end it early with the eight-run rule.
NOTABLES
• Indiana improves to 27-23-1 on Opening Day.
• The 17 runs scored is the most since scoring the Hoosiers scored 17 against Ohio State on March 5, 2022. This ranks the eighth most runs in program history.
• Indiana recorded seven hits in the game.
• The Hoosiers were 6-for-6 in stolen bases against the Panthers.
• Indiana combined for seven RBIs. Copeland and Stone led the way with three apiece.
• Brianna Copeland went 2-for-2 with a double and a stolen base.
• Stone had two doubles against the Panthers.
