SOUTH BEND, Ind. - DMR weekend delivered in a big way.
The final day of the regular season, often regarded as the major qualifying day for Distance Medley Relay teams to the NCAA Indoor Championships, produced seven of the top-10 marks in the nation this season on the men's side.
The Indiana Men's DMR team, comprised of Camden Marshall, Micah Camble, Parker Raymond and Jake Gebhardt, ran a blistering 9:22.16 to shatter the school record of 9:22.78 run last year at the same event.
IU finished seventh in the race but clocked the 10th-fastest time in the nation this year. With only conference championships remaining, the Hoosiers remain above the cutline to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the DMR.
The top-10 times in program history in the Men's DMR have all been run since head coach Ron Helmer took over before the 2007-08 season.
On the women's side, IU's quartet of Maddie Dalton, Alyssa Robinson, Jenna Barker and Sarah Schmitt ran the seventh-best time in program history with a mark of 11:10.49.
Keefer Soehngen ran under 1:50 for the first time in his career at 800 meters with a mark of 1:49.47. Maddie Russin won the 800 meters on the women's side with a time of 2:10.60.
The Indoor Track and Field regular season has come to an end. The Hoosiers will take to Geneva, Ohio next week for the Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships before the NCAA Indoor Championships in three weeks' time.
